Can adults start horse riding? Horse riding is an activity that’s open to all ages and all abilities, it’s never too early or too late to start learning. Being around horses and ponies has been shown to benefit people in many different ways – it’s great for your physical fitness, help your mental wellbeing and relieve any stress you may have.
Is it too late to learn horseback riding? Is it ever really too late to learn? Broadly speaking, no. As long as you’re physically capable, mentally game, and willing to apply yourself, horse riding can become part of your life.
Can I learn horse riding at 50? Can adults learn horse riding? Absolutely. Your learning experience will probably look a little different than if you’d learnt to ride as a child though.
How many lessons does it take to learn horse riding? It has been my experience that for people taking 1 riding lesson a week, it generally takes approximately 2 years to develop enough competence that you can safely to all the basics of horse care and riding on your own (e.g. catch, tie, lead, tack up, ride, go down the trail).
